Trauma Counselling

What to Expect

Trauma counselling offers a steady, supportive space to process experiences that still feel heavy or unresolved. Whether it stems from a single distressing event or a pattern of stress that built up over time, we move at a pace that feels safe for you. Sessions blend gentle conversation with body aware and evidence based approaches, so healing can happen without having to relive every detail. Over time, many people notice more ease in their body, steadier emotions, and a renewed sense of safety in daily life.

When to Seek Trauma Counselling

Trauma can show up in ways that are easy to miss or dismiss, until they start shaping how you move through the world. If certain memories, situations, or emotions still carry a strong charge, or if you find yourself feeling on edge, shut down, or disconnected more often than you’d like, trauma counselling can help. It’s also a supportive option if you’re navigating the after effects of an accident, loss, medical event, or period of prolonged stress, and want support making sense of it.

An Integrative Approach to Trauma Counselling

Our approach to trauma counselling draws on modalities that address both the story and the sensations trauma leaves behind. We often draw on EMDR-informed counselling to help the body process distressing memories, alongside somatic and parts based techniques that build awareness and self compassion. Every plan is shaped around your history, your goals, and what feels manageable, so the work supports steady progress rather than overwhelm.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is trauma counselling?

Trauma counselling is a supportive process for working through experiences that still feel unsettled or heavy, whether that’s a single distressing event or an accumulation of stress over time. It combines conversation with body aware techniques to help you feel calmer, safer, and more like yourself.

No. You don’t need a formal diagnosis or a dramatic story to benefit from this work. If something still feels unresolved or is affecting how you feel and function, that’s reason enough to reach out.

We support people processing a wide range of difficult experiences, including accidents, loss, medical events, relationship harm, and prolonged periods of stress. Every person’s history is different, and the work is shaped around yours.

Not if you don’t want to. Many of the approaches we use, including EMDR informed techniques, allow the nervous system to process distressing material without requiring a detailed retelling of every moment.

Trauma counselling often incorporates body aware and nervous system focused techniques alongside conversation, since difficult experiences are held in the body as well as the mind. This can support a more complete kind of healing.

There’s no set timeline. Some people notice shifts within a few months, while others prefer ongoing support for deeper or longer standing patterns. We’ll check in regularly so the pace continues to feel right for you.

Yes. We offer trauma counselling virtually across Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia, as well as limited in person sessions in Toronto.

It’s common for emotions to feel more present as you begin doing this work. We move at a pace you can handle, with tools to help you stay grounded between sessions.

If past experiences are still affecting your mood, relationships, or sense of safety, trauma counselling can offer meaningful support. A first session is a good opportunity to ask questions and see if it feels like the right fit.

How Sessions Work

I’ve spent more than two decades sitting with people in some of the most tender seasons of their lives. That work has taught me that healing is rarely linear, and that the goal is not to erase your story. The goal is to help you hold it with more clarity, more compassion, and more freedom.

Format

Sessions are offered virtually to clients worldwide, including across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, and India, with limited in-person availability in Toronto.

We are also in the process of organizing in-person gatherings for the Unraveling Circle with Grace. If you’re interested in attending, please contact us to be added to the list for updates and upcoming events.

Length

50 minutes for standard sessions. Extended sessions are available when the work calls for it.

Frequency

Most clients meet weekly or biweekly. We’ll find a rhythm that supports the work without overwhelming your life.

A Space For Healing, at Your Pace

Starting counselling can feel vulnerable. A strong counselling relationship is built through safety, trust, and a shared understanding of what you need. My goal is to offer a space where you feel supported as you explore what is hurting, what is protecting you, and what healing may look like for you.
