Immigrant Counselling

What to Expect

Adjusting to a new country asks a lot of you, often while you’re also managing work, family, and everything else life doesn’t pause for. Sessions make room for the full weight of that adjustment, not just the practical parts.

How sessions build over time:

When to Seek Immigrant Counselling

Immigrant counselling isn’t only for the first hard months in a new country. It can help at any stage of adjusting, even years after you’ve arrived.

Adjusting often means holding two cultures at once, and if that tension feels familiar, our cultural identity counselling page looks at that experience in more depth.

Adjusting to a new country touches identity, relationships, and daily life all at once. We build an approach that reflects that, rather than treating it as one single issue.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is immigrant counselling?

Immigrant counselling is a space to work through the layered experience of adapting to a new country, including culture, identity, family, and belonging, with a counsellor who understands that experience isn’t one-size-fits-all.

Yes. We work with the practical and emotional realities of immigration, including culture shock, isolation, and the pressure of building a new life while staying connected to where you came from.

Yes. Counselling can help you process the disorientation of a new culture and build a stronger sense of connection and support, even while that’s still developing.

That’s common, and we can talk through how to navigate those expectations without you having to choose between your family and your own wellbeing.

No. Counselling is available regardless of where you are in that process, and we can work with the stress that uncertainty brings.

It depends on what you’re working through. Some people come for a few months of focused support, others stay longer through an extended transition. We’ll check in regularly on what’s working.

Yes. What you share stays private, with the standard legal exceptions any counsellor in Ontario is required to follow.

Both. In-person sessions are held in Toronto. Online sessions are available across Ontario and Canada.

Rates vary by counsellor and session length. Book a consultation and we’ll walk you through pricing and what’s involved before you commit to anything.

How Sessions Work

I’ve spent more than two decades sitting with people in some of the most tender seasons of their lives. That work has taught me that healing is rarely linear, and that the goal is not to erase your story. The goal is to help you hold it with more clarity, more compassion, and more freedom.

Format

Sessions are offered virtually to clients worldwide—including across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, and India—with limited in-person availability in Toronto.

We are also in the process of organizing in-person gatherings for the Unraveling Circle with Grace. If you’re interested in attending, please contact us to be added to the list for updates and upcoming events.

Length

50 minutes for standard sessions. Extended sessions are available when the work calls for it.

Frequency

Most clients meet weekly or biweekly. We’ll find a rhythm that supports the work without overwhelming your life.

Fees

Please reach out for current rates. Receipts are provided so you can check coverage with your insurance provider.

A Space For Healing, at Your Pace

Starting counselling can feel vulnerable. A strong counselling relationship is built through safety, trust, and a shared understanding of what you need. My goal is to offer a space where you feel supported as you explore what is hurting, what is protecting you, and what healing may look like for you.
