Cultural Identity Counselling

When to Seek Cultural Identity Counselling

You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from cultural identity counselling in Toronto or online. Many people come in feeling caught between worlds, unsure which parts of themselves to bring into which spaces.

Common struggles this might help with:

What to Expect

Whether you are meeting in person in Toronto or connecting online, cultural identity counselling sessions are collaborative and paced to what feels right for you. There is no pressure to have the right words, or to explain your culture before you feel ready. If anxiety often shows up alongside these cultural or family tensions, our anxiety counselling page can help you understand how that overlaps with cultural identity counselling.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is cultural identity counselling?

It’s a space to explore how culture, heritage, and belonging shape your sense of self, so you can navigate multiple identities with more clarity and confidence.

Many people carry a sense of being “not enough” of one culture and “too much” of another. Counselling helps you make sense of that tension and find a version of yourself that doesn’t require choosing sides.

Family expectations and personal identity can pull in different directions, especially across generations. Counselling gives you a space to work through that gap without dismissing either side.

Parts Work looks at the different sides of you, like the part that adapts at work and the part that shows up at home, with curiosity instead of judgment, so they can work together instead of against each other.

Yes. Many clients are navigating immigration, acculturation, being first-generation, or growing up between more than one culture, and the work is shaped around your specific background and experience.

Yes. What you share stays private, with the standard legal exceptions any counsellor in Ontario is required to follow.

Both. In-person sessions are held in Toronto. Online sessions are available across Ontario and worldwide.

This depends on your goals and history. Some people come for a few months of focused support, others stay longer for deeper identity or family work. We will check in regularly on what’s working.

Rates vary by counsellor and session length. Book a consultation and we’ll walk you through pricing and what’s involved before you commit to anything.

How Sessions Work

I’ve spent more than two decades sitting with people in some of the most tender seasons of their lives. That work has taught me that healing is rarely linear, and that the goal is not to erase your story. The goal is to help you hold it with more clarity, more compassion, and more freedom.

Format

Sessions are offered virtually to clients worldwide, including across Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Dubai, Bahrain, Qatar, and India, with limited in-person availability in Toronto.

We are also in the process of organizing in-person gatherings for the Unraveling Circle with Grace. If you’re interested in attending, please contact us to be added to the list for updates and upcoming events.

Length

50 minutes for standard sessions. Extended sessions are available when the work calls for it.

Frequency

Most clients meet weekly or biweekly. We’ll find a rhythm that supports the work without overwhelming your life.

Fees

A Space For Healing, at Your Pace

Starting counselling can feel vulnerable. A strong counselling relationship is built through safety, trust, and a shared understanding of what you need. My goal is to offer a space where you feel supported as you explore what is hurting, what is protecting you, and what healing may look like for you.
